An alternative to Panasonic's DMW-LA3 adapter.

Unlike the LA3 adapter from Panasonic, the idea behind our adapter is to allow use of filters through-out the entire zoom range while still providing a sealed environment for the FZ18 lens to protect it from dust, dirt and impact. The overall length is adjusted by rotating the adapter clockwise to retract or counterclockwise to extend. Any vignetting is eliminated by adjusting the adapter length to a shorter position. Compatible filter sizes are 52mm and larger*. Recommended filter size is 62 or 67mm. Can also be used with compatible tele, wide angle and macro converters. The adapter requires only 10 revolutions to go from fully extended to fully retracted. Made with high quality aluminum alloy and available only in Black. $44.49

PICT 3: An included rubber o-ring is fitted over the 46mm filter threads of the camera lens barrel. The o-ring extends just past the rim of the camera barrel and provides protection to an installed filter by acting as a bumper. Should the user zoom to tele with the adapter in a less than fully extended position, the o-ring will strike the filter glass, preventing the hard rim of the camera barrel from doing so. The o-ring is fully removable at any time.

PICT 4: This adapter can also be configured to give vignette-free performance without the need to retract or extend the adapter. This is done by simply adding a 62-67mm step-ring, a 67mm filter (4.5mm thickness or less) and making a one time only adjustment to the adapter length i.e., retracting the extended adapter several turns until the filter glass contacts the installed o-ring. [Update] The FZ28 (and later versions) has a 27mm minimum focal length as compared to the FZ18's 28mm. Unfortunately this extra wide angle capability introduces vignetting when using this configuration with the FZ28.

    PA62E INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Power on the camera.
  • Install the o-ring in the lens barrel (see pict 3).
  • Power off the camera.
  • Locate the female mounting threads on the camera.
  • Extend the adapter to its full length.
  • Thread the adapter clockwise into the female mounting threads.
  • Continue until the inner tube reaches the camera barrel. To secure the connection, squeeze the outer tube and continue rotating the adapter slightly. That should do it.
  • Test the installation by fully retracting and extending the outer tube several times. After doing so, the inner tube should still be fully seated to the camera. If you see the inner tube rotating with the outer tube than it isn't seated.
